On Halloween, kids in their costumes walk around the streets asking for candy, but when older people are seen doing so people start to get their own opinions about it.

Many people think that only kids are allowed to trick-or-treat, while others think that it’s an all-ages holiday. There are people however that think that there are exceptions to these two sides.

Vanessa Chanon, a freshman, believes this.

When asked how old people have to be to be able to trick-or-treat she said,

“I think that kids of all ages should do it. People of all ages should be allowed to do it.”

A poll was done with high school students to see how old people thought was too old to trick-or-treat. A majority of the people agreed with Vanessa and said that people of all ages should be able to trick-or-treat.

The second highest answer was that people of 21 years or younger should be able to. The people who said this said that there were, of course, exceptions to their thoughts.

One girl, who wished to remain anonymous, said,

“Parents with children can, of course, go out with their kids and even dress up. People with disabilities should be able to go too.”

Overall, people think that it is acceptable for older people, who are no longer children, to be able to go trick-or-treating on Halloween. It is a holiday that can be celebrated by all people and should be. What do you think?
