Track Season is now here and starting off stronger than ever. All of the Track participants have been working non-stop everyday training for their upcoming competitions. The first ever Track meet for this year was held at Riverside Military Academy for the third time. Our Valhalla team competed along with around 20 other schools in the events held at the Indoor Winter Challenge. To no surprise, our Vikings came home with victory.

For results, Avana Anderson finished 1st overall in the girls high jump. For this she receives a gold metal. Makria Nash finished 2nd overall in the girls 55 meter hurdle, for this receives a silver metal. Mauriana Gilbert also receives 2nd place in one of her events, triple jump, receiving a silver metal as well. Lastly, Cady Copus finishing overall 3rd in triple jump, and for this she received a bronze metal.

Some other honorable mentions include the Boy 4×200 meter finished 4th overall, participants being, Kaymoni Leiro, Calvin Sargent, SaaQuan Simpson, and DJ Gray. Caleb Stuart also finished in the top 5 for the boys high jump. Keythanual Cantrell finished in the top 6 in Shot Put. Our last mention, Cielo Caraballo finished top 6 in the girls 400 meter dash.

All of these student athletes should be proud of all they accomplished for their first competition. We know with our team’s hard work, they are going to only improve from here. A special thanks goes to Coach Davis and Coach Wilson, the management team Erick and Nayeli, and to the non-profit organization based here in Georgia, Prosperiteen, for providing snacks and drinks for our team. This first meet could have never been possible without them. Be sure to congratulate these athletes, and wish them luck on their next meet coming up in February.
