Marching Band might have been left with football season, but the band doesn’t stop. As the East Hall Concert Band is getting ready for festivals. Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) is going to take place at Habersham Central High School on March 13th and 14th.  The competition is that the band is split into three separate bands. The concert band will be playing on March 13th at 1:30 pm. With Symphonic playing on March 13th at 3:00 pm and Wind Symphony playing on March 14th at 7:10 pm.

The band has already been rehearsal since January 29th and have split the rehearsal with woodwinds one day and the brass the other day until the full band can play together. Youngman has also split that only woodwinds of Symphonic play on that day only as the same for the other bands. Youngman wants to hear each band individual so he knows what he has to work on and to get the best performance out of each band for the big day.

Arely Adame a  flute player (11) and  member of the Symphonic band was asked how she feels that rehearsal has helped her improve, “ Yeah like the practice is hopeful and he pays more attention to us individual  then as a whole band.”

Leslie Sorto a bassoon player (11) member of the Wind Symphony, was asked how she is preparing for LGPE “It’s stressful, there’s a lot of work that you have to put in. You have to practice on your own if you really put in the work.”

Abisai Barrera a trombone player (9) member of the concert band. It’s his first year of LGPE as a high school student, He was asked how is preparing for LGPE as a high school student from a middle school student.  “It’s a lot more practice then what I expected, the music is also a lot harder.”

Just to make sure that the band is ready for LGPE, Youngman has organized a pre-band performance on February 26th, 2019 at 6:30 pm at the Performing  Arts Centers at East Hall High School. It’s organized as if it was really was LGPE. There will be judges to judge the music. Just the students can be prepared for the real LGPE. The East Hall band is one of the most hard-working band there is. So they do no doubt that they are going to do great.
