A New Zax’s is making its way across from Kroger?!?!

Almost 29 years ago, one of the greatest wings restaurant in the South was made. With the success of this restaurant, and it’s greatly seasoned chicken, it’s mostly everywhere in the South. About 800 locations, in 18 states, this restaurant is famously known as Zaxby’s.

Zaxby’s is a chain of fast food restaurants offering chicken wings, chicken fingers, sandwiches, and salads. The first Zaxby’s restaurant opened in Statesboro, Georgia on March 1990. The people that founded this famous restaurant is Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley. The company’s first restaurant outside of Georgia was opened on September 1994 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Zaxby’s chicken and Zax Sauce is based on another smaller chicken finger chain called Guthrie’s that existed in Athens, Georgia while Zach McLeroy attended the University of Georgia.  The company operates as a casual dining restaurant, offering prepared-at-order chicken fingers, chicken wings, sandwiches, salads, and appetizers Dipping sauces are offered with chicken finger orders, and range from mild, to the moderate “Zax sauce”, to the intensely hot “Nuclear” and “Insane”. Dining rooms at Zaxby’s restaurants are decorated with assorted whimsical objects and signs, which often vary in theme by location and region.

Fortunately, now another Zaxby’s is opening at 1977 Textile Way, off Jesse Jewell Parkway across from Kroger. That adds to another location for Zaxby’s. I interviewed some students to hear their thoughts about the new Zaxby’s that’s opening soon

From ROTC Cadet Jaden Bales he says “I think it’s a great thing. For one, it gives more jobs to people, plus Zaxby’s has amazing food. It’s a plus one, personally from me, because I literally live right behind where the new Zaxby’s is gonna be”

From ROTC Cadet Jesse Rodriguez he says “Well I like the new Zaxby’s. It did give me a job after all.”

From ROTC Cadet Daniel Hinshaw he says “I think it a great idea. The reason why is because I work nearby and I don’t have to go all the way in town to get Zaxby’s. The benefits of it being nearby is that East Hall students has an advantage to get some Zaxby’s. Zaxby’s will get this side of town more business.”

For all the workers that work at Kroger who like Zaxby’s, they don’t have to need to go across town to get some, they can just go across the street and enjoy the infamous Zaxby’s.
