Humans of Valhalla: Mr. Daniel Stainback

Teacher of the Year 2018-19 Daniel Stainback

East Hall is filled with many talented and passionate teachers who are always ready to help their students learn. Mr. Daniel Stainback is one of East Hall’s most beloved teacher due to his enthusiastic approach to teaching and his witty personality.

Mr. Stainback started his teaching journey at the University of North Georgia by getting his Bachelor’s in Arts and History and certification in teaching. He then got accepted to student teach here at East Hall and proceeded to get hired as a paraprofessional for the special needs department. After both positions,  he was hired as a history teacher and is on his 4th year teaching. However, he isn’t done just yet because he is currently going to school to get his Master’s Degree in Education and Instructional Technology. At East Hall, he currently teaches AP, honors, and on-level US history. When asked what his favorite part of teaching is he said,

“My favorite part is being able to connect with the students. I try to do different things to learn about my students because in my opinion that’s what education is all about, making a connection with students.”

The 2018-19 school year has been very exciting for Mr. Stainback as he was chosen as Teacher of the Year of East Hall by his colleagues. When asked how he felt about the achievement he stated,

“It feels like an honor because this was a peer chosen award and there are a ton of great teachers at East Hall. I think that we have a fantastic group and so many of them could win that award, so the fact that they felt that I deserved it really makes me feel honored.”

Outside of school, Mr Stainback enjoys spending time with his family which includes his wife, 2 sons, and soon-to-be twin daughters. He also said that he was an avid sports fan and is always following a team and just enjoys any type of entertainment ranging from tv shows to movies.

We can tell that Mr. Stainback is passionate about his career and everything he does inside and outside of East Hall. He is very appreciated at East Hall and is deserving of all he has received this year and years to come.
