The modern version of movie, Dumbo was released to theatres across the nation on March 29, 2019.The recreation of Dumbo has swept theatres sales with it’s new and modern deliverance. Dumbo was originally an animated film released in 1941 and was then turned into a live action film produced by Tim Burton. The movie stays true to the animated original, but still includes elements not featured in the original movie, the biggest difference being a live action. If you’ve seen the original you’ll know the movie leaves you questioning, will Dumbo be reunited with his mother or be locked up forever?

Dumbo is based off of a traveling circus that receives a new elephant expecting to have a baby. When the baby is born, the circus notices he is born with large ears and is then given the harsh name Dumbo. He then performs in the show in which he is tormented and resulted in his mother getting sent away. What people don’t know is that while on the outside, Dumbo just looks like he has large ears, but what they don’t know are that those ears give him the ability to fly. As soon as the world finds out this elephant has the ability to fly, everyone is astounded by this talent. While Dumbo loves the attention with his new found talent, he wants to be reunited with his mother who he was separated from. Dumbo then goes on a journey to find his mother and reunite.

When watching, Dumbo I was impressed with the storyline as well as how true they stayed to the original. The story had heart, but still kept people laughing throughout the whole film. What I was impressed with the most was the animation and how realistic it was. They truly made Dumbo look as if he was a real flying elephant. This movie truly stood out against many others Disney animations as well as movies that are later remade from Disney such as Christopher Robin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Jungle Book. While some critics argue and say it may have not stayed as true to the original film as expected, overall the movie was well like by people across the world.

Dumbo has now become one of the most talked about films of the year so far and has made $219.1 million dollars in sales. I would recommend this movie to those of all ages, whether you’ve seen the 1949 film or not. Dumbo shows us that you can take an old school classic and bring it to new heights.
