Gaming Olympics in Tokyo?!?!

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will be released in North America on November 5th 2019 on the Nintendo Switch. Once again Mario and Sonic and all their friends are once again participating in the Olympics.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is an upcoming sports video game published and developed by Sega, based on the 2020 Summer Olympics. It is the sixth installment in the Mario & Sonic series, a crossover between Nintendo’s Super Mario and Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog franchises. The player, using one of the characters, competes in the multiple of events based on sports from the Olympic Games. The game features a variety of events; returning ones from previous Mario & Sonic titles include boxing, soccer, swimming, and gymnastics, while new ones include karate, skateboarding, sport climbing, and surfing. Along with that comes a new mode where you can go back in time to the 1964 Summer Olympics where things go 2-D featuring 8-bit and 16-bit styles of Mario, Sonic and the gang.

A few people had some thoughts on the new Nintendo/Sega Olympics.

Former East Hall Student, David Perez says “Well both Mario and Sonic has been at it for generations and to me, in my opinion, I’ll like to see players pick which side they’re on. I love both games but I just want to see more competition between the two, and I believe that the Olympics can be a great place to settle Mario and Sonic’s differences.

NJROTC Cadet Julius Rodriguez says “It should be a great game, there are a lot of events you can choose from and a lot of characters you can pick. Along with that, you can go back in time so you go back to playing those 2-D classic type games.
