BBQ and Cabaret Fundraiser put on by VVTG

East Hall High School’s Drama Department, Viking Vision Theatre Group, also known as VVTG, is putting on a BBQ and Cabaret Fundraiser. Students are selling tickets for $10 each. These tickets will get you a plate of barbecue which comes with beans, slaw, a roll, and dessert. The plate pick up begins at 4:30 pm on Friday, October 16th, 2020. The VVTG boosters and parents will be in the theatre all day so teachers and staff at EHHS and even EHMS will also have the opportunity to purchase a plate for their lunch. Senior Maura Ostrander, President of EHHS Theatre Troupe #5432, is excited for the evening’s festivities.

“I’m really looking forward to bringing people together over a nice barbecue meal with a night of performances.”  She said.

Last year,  VVTG was not able to cut loose with their spring performance of Footloose. Coronavirus took us all by surprise last March and many high school theatre departments suffered greatly. Most of the set was constructed and many costume pieces and wigs were purchased for the performance. VVTG suffered a substantial financial loss due to being unable to perform the 2020 Spring musical. The BBQ and Cabaret fundraiser is going to help recoup the money that was lost.

“The pandemic has given us an opportunity to have more time to prepare and students have been given a chance to perform any piece they want which is an opportunity they may not have had otherwise.”

says Aimee Jordan, the Theatre Director here at East Hall.

The East Hall theatre students are also getting an opportunity to perform this year at the Cabaret. Due to Corona-virus preliminary measurements, shows can not be held inside the auditorium. Due to this, VVTG will not be able to perform any shows this semester. This has given Theatre students a unique opportunity, The cabaret will be performed outside with precautionary measurements taken. Students will be able to perform any song or monologue of their choosing. The student performances begin at 6 pm on October 16th, 2020.

The BBQ and Cabaret is a wonderful opportunity for the East Hall community to support our theatre students. So, Vikings, be sure to see a theatre student this week and purchase your tickets for the BBQ and Cabaret on October 16th!
